This 6,000 square foot stone and stucco villa is designed to nestle into its hillside site overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Costa Rica. Approached on its upper level, the visitor enters the main house through a courtyard and into a large Great Room which stretches across the entire width of the house and offers a dramatic vista out to the sea. The villa’s four bedroom suites are located on two levels and offer a variety of views and private gardens with outdoor showers. The compact lot, defined by the site’s dramatic slope and the desire to minimize the impact on the existing landscape, is bordered on its ocean side with a long lap pool with an infinity edge and an adjacent open air dining pavilion. Loggias connect the various rooms of the villa to each other and provide much needed protection from sun and rain, depending on the season.
