Family Compound on Block Island
This family compound on Block Island is comprised of three separate structures, including a 5,400 square foot main house, a 2,300 square foot guesthouse and garage, and a 3,000 square foot barn. Located on the 17-acre site of a former dairy farm, the main house sits atop a hill where the original farmhouse once stood, while the timber framed entertaining barn has been reconstructed from the farm’s original dairy barn.

Inspired by the Shingle style architecture that flourished in coastal New England in the early 1900s, our design for the new main house and carriage house incorporates local stone and captures panoramic views of the Sound to the North and a large salt pond and nature-filled wetlands to the South. We are delighted to once again be collaborating with Miles Redd of Redd Kahoi on the interior decoration and Deborah Nevins on the landscape design.
