This new retail store for the E. R. Butler Company, a purveyor of exceptional custom hardware, was inserted into a dilapidated space in a landmarked building in the historic Charles Street neighborhood of Boston.

This prototype retail space for the business was designed to create an interior that reinforced the character of the hardware being sold while celebrating the collaborations with artisans that are integral to the business. The client’s love of the 18th century English architecture of Robert Adam complemented the store’s location in Federal Boston and guided our design of the detailing throughout.
